Beginnings

Gwendolyn Danebury was born in medieval Engliand. A low ranking noblewoman who from an early was gifted with Seer's sight. Many of the other nobles were fearful of this gift and attempted to brand her a heritic. The King found her talents useful, even at a tender age, so he used it, only tending her needs and to her happiness because of that Sight. As she grew, Gwen came to understand the limit to the King's generosity and the reason behind it. She felt as if she had no one, for her father had been killed in a battle and her mother had been forbidden to see her lest she corrupt her and threaten the gift. When she reached her teens, she discovered the power of runic magic and strove to learn all she could about it. At 16, she was befriended by a well-known and liked knight named Dane Kel. She grew found of him, and his patience with her questions and was always there to listen when she felt sad or lonely. She came to respect him even more than she did the King and when he took the King's place by right of battle, she stood by him willingly.

Gwendolyn told Dane of her secret, her mastery of the Runes and in an attempt to prove herself more useful than she had been just with her Seer's Sight, she found that she made a terrible mistake. She tried to force the magic of the Rune of the Unknown to give her knowledge. The Rune in turn, pulled her into it, trapping her for thousands of years.

In the Face of Time, even Rune's yield their power.

In those thousand years, Gwendolyn did learn the mysteries of the Runes and it's power was branded upon her very soul. It was ingrained in every sense she had, but it also came with a price. It blinded her to the Mortal world, to give her sight in the Otherworld.
One day, someone discovered the Rune and plucked it from where time and the forces had placed it. The Rune cracked and Gwendolyn was released into the world again. The man who released her, she was delighted to dscover, was Dane Kel. She was told of his Embrace and of the new Kingdom he Ruled which was called ShadowsVeil. Then he offered her eternity to seek out all the knowledge she wished to seek.
Gwendolyn accepted the offer, knowing that even the knowledge she held already, it would take more than her short lifetime to explore or share with others.
So she became Lasombra and learned the ways and powers of the Unliving. Now as she is part of Clan Kel, she seeks to give her service to the King and his wife for as long as she is welcome within the Veil.
